STATEMENT ON BOMB THREATS AT JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTERS
Unanimously adopted by Network of Religious Communities Board of Governors the evening of February 23, 2017

The Network of Religious Communities and its member organizations wish to express our concern and support for the Jewish Community in light of the recent bomb threat at the Jewish Community Center in Getzville.

We are aware that this is not an isolated incident. Rather, sadly, it is part of a recent wave of threats to Jewish Community Centers and organizations across America. While the authorities have declared these call-in threats hoaxes, they are in fact, malicious attacks on psyche and sense of security of all Jews living in Western New York and across America. They remind us once again that antisemitism is alive in our midst.

We welcome the opportunity to meet with the appropriate members of the Jewish Community to discuss ways that we can be supportive and helpful in this time and circumstance. We are open to suggestions for things that we might do within each of our religious communities, and as a religious community as a whole, to let you know that you do not stand alone and that we will work with you to eradicate antisemitism, as well as all forms of religious persecution, in Western New York and beyond.

In concern and solidarity,
Network of Religious Communities
